LEICESTER’S National Development League clash with Oxford will need to be re-staged after rain forced an early curtailment on Saturday.
The Lion Cubs led the league leaders 17-13 after at the time of the stoppage, with the meeting being delayed due to a heavy crash for Max James in Heat 5.
James hit the fence on turn four and whilst he was being attended to, a shower hit the circuit which would have made conditions hazardous on a track which had already staged a full Premiership match, and the decision was taken to call a halt.
The Cubs had been going well with guest Max Clegg defeating Jordan Jenkins in Heat 1, before Max Perry and James carded an excellent 5-1 over Ryan Kinsley in Heat 3.
The Chargers pulled back a couple of points when Heat 5 was awarded but that proved to be the end of the action.
Thankfully much of the attention for James was largely precautionary and he was back in the pits following the abandonment of the meeting.
Belle Vue took advantage with five points over the weekend against Workington to move into second place in the table, although the Lion Cubs have two matches in hand over the Colts.
